What is Search Engine Optimization? Part (1)

Have you ever heard of Search Engine Optimization (SEO)? Do you know what it means and how it works? If you are in the marketing field, like me, it is a major chapter. (SEO) stands for Search Engine Optimization. At first, when asked what is SEO, I had no idea, but now, and after reading some articles and blogs on the topic, I realized it is one of the most important aspects you need to understand very well in order to maximize the search rankings on websites. In simple words, it is the process of getting traffic from organic, editorial, free, or natural results on search engines. Whether you are a large or small company or even just a person with an e-commerce website, you have to drive a search engine optimization on the website to achieve higher rankings.

As my colleague, Jane mentioned in her blog, http://janeleedigitalmarketing.blogspot.com/2017/04/search-engine-optimization-purpose-of.html#comment-form, when having a higher ranking on your web page, the chances of getting more traffic on that page becomes greater and this makes it easier for searchers to find your page. In order for that to happen, you need to post content on your site that the SEO understands so that it ranks it and make it visible on the top first front page to obtain the goal of having traffic on your page. How is that done? Spiders or crawlers move from site to site collecting information and linking websites with similar content together. Then, it stores this tremendous amount of information in huge databases to recall them later when needed as fast as possible to provide answers. Who uses SEO? Google, Yahoo, Bing and other main search engines with any kind of content. Is it free? Fortunately, yes, it is.
