What are the most important skills an analyst should have?

At first, who is a business analyst? And what are his job and responsibilities?
A business analyst is a person who collects information and documents and organizes them in order to identify the business needs and requirements. In addition to that, he is also involved in redesigning or the modification process to integrate technology into the company’s system. Even though sometimes his job can vary in different aspects, depending on the type of organization or the project he is working on, an analyst needs to have basic and important skills and techniques to complete his tasks. Here are some of the main skills that are needed in his daily schedule:

  1. ·      Investigating: an analyst has to ask questions to gather information about the problems or issues that the company is facing to look for a solution. It can be done by conducting interviews or observing the work.
  2. ·      Communicating and Negotiating skills: to collect data, an analyst must have a strong interpersonal skill and be active in building a strong relationship to communicate with coworkers by talking and listening to them so that they can contribute to the project.
  3. ·      Analyzing and Documenting: after gathering, he has to study the trends and patterns he observed, make sure it is accurate, suggest various solutions and illustrate them in visual forms such as graphs or diagrams.
  4. ·      Strategic Thinking: understanding strategic thinking is critic in an analyst job to be able to find the right solution for each problem by thinking outside the box.
  5. ·      Technical Knowledge: technical skills are important to help in designing the product that is suitable for the customer. An analyst is expected to assist in programming platforms and operating the system to help in coding and redesigning the system till the customer is satisfied.
